Lydia Ko Secures Gold and Enters LPGA Hall of Fame
Lydia Ko wins gold at Le Golf National, securing her place in the LPGA Hall of Fame with a final birdie on the 18th hole.
On a final birdie and a -4, New Zealand’s Lydia Ko won at Le Golf National and secured the gold medal. The birdie on the 18th hole not only scooped her the victory but also ensured her induction into the LPGA Hall of Fame. Ko teed off the last round at -9, in the company of Switzerland’s Metraux Morgane. The latter’s performance on the course seem to fade very quickly as she hit the water on her first tee, to eventually hand in a day score of +7.
The fight at the back of the winners’ course seemed to be very intense as all the players keenly fought for the remaining two medals. Germany’s Henseleit Esther and China’s Lin Xiyu seemed to pace on the course very well. Henseleit’s -6 on the last course proved unbeatable as she secured silver while Lin’s -3 ensured her the bronze medal. On her front nine, Ko had -3 that made her perform excellently at the course. Metraux managed to double leg only the 9 holes on the course. She again hand in a single bogey on the 11th hole. To cement her third Olympic medal, Lydia Ko played equal to par to bring her total accumulative score to -10. She won a silver in Rio and bronze in Athens.
