Arsenal has presented the new Africa-inspired kit as part of getting ready for the forthcoming Premier League season and in celebration of the club’s deep connection with the continent. This colorful creation is the brainchild of Foday Dumbuya, born in Sierra Leone and raised in London, who has also shared the inspiration for this unique piece of work and his partnership with the London club. Mark Wilberforce from BBC Africa visited Dumbuya at his boutique to learn more about his aspirations, ideas, and projects, while his interview, filmed and edited by Ameer Ahmed, reveals the dream that are attached to the unique arsenal kit that designed as part of Hyundai’s My Club, My Kit competition.

This Africa-inspired kit is thought to unite the diverse national and ethnic backgrounds of the Gunners’ squad, and forge deeper bonds with the fans around the world, especially in Africa. Moreover, during the interview, Dumbuya shared that he hopes that the kit brings victory and potentially aids in winning the league. It is worth mentioning that the club’s move into the branding and cultural influence areas reflects the general tendency in the sports industry, where teams and individuals try to create authentic, resonating content that connects global fans and reflects multiculturalism.
