Bolton Wanderers and Wrexham Face Off in Key Match

Bolton Wanderers vs Wrexham (Tuesday 7:45pm - League Two)

HE big game for Bolton Wanderers this afternoon sees the visit of Wrexham, desperate not to fail at the final hurdle again and win promotion into the Championship. Crucially, all of this ahead of the match played by Bolton - who are looking to climb back up into the Championship after five seasons out — with both teams in second-round Carabao Cup combat.

Recent Cup Forays and Season Prospects

Also known as The Trotters, Bolton are able to shake off the shackles of their league form after booking a spot in the third round thanks to victory on penalties over Mansfield Town. However, Wrexham, part-owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney crashed out after losing 4-2 at Sheffield United.

It is the fourth season in a row that they find themselves playing at League One level. They got agonizingly close to achieving promotion last season but they were beaten in the playoff final. They have been more determined than ever this season, only they do not plan on missing out to reaching the Championship.

Bolton strategy and key player analysis

Bolton have set up strongly defensively and largely gone down the route of providing a head or high boot pass as part of his strategy plan throughout this season. A defense-weak side has been trying to work on their back line and apparently conceded goals in lesser numbers which is a good sign of improvement. They also need their midfield and frontmen to stay dynamic as well in order to have the surge of creation on top be able to continue into the campaign for promotion.

Bolton: Arsenal's captain, who is playing a huge role in both shoring up the defense and kicking off most attacks this season. The midfield, famed for its rapid-passing ability to shred open defences and inundate the attackers with top-notch goal-scoring opportunities will also get heavily equipped in order to help contain possession of the ball.

Wrexham Challenge and Match Round-up

At the other end, Wrexham will aim to respond from their Carabao Cup elimination and they present a substantive challenge to Bolton's objectives. This should be an exciting match, but one that both sides will want to come away with all three points.

Supporters will expect a tense affair chock-full of tactical action and big moments that could well dictate how the rest of this campaign shapes up for both sides. Bolton, with home advantage and smarting following last season's near-miss, could have the nudge but Wrexham are resilient too - Campbell said it was "men against boys" at Adams Park.
