Celebrities Rally for Kamala Harris at DNC

The democratic national convention in Chicago is going to be an event to watch this week as a number of celebrities will gather to support Kamala Harris in her bid to become the President of the United States. John Legend, Kerry Washington, Mindy Kaling, Ana Navarro, and Tony Goldwyn are the celebrities, expected to attend the event providing a significant boost to the status of the sitting vice president. The gathering will involve performances of those and other celebrities along with various speeches. Tony Goldwyn is expected to perform on the first night and kick off the event with his activism drawing from his role in the popular television show “Scandal”. The Tuesday event will be led by Ana Navarro, a republican advocating for Harris’ presidency after refusing to accept Trump, drawing various parallels from her own immigration story. Wednesday will be led by Mindy Kaling, a prominent television writer and actress described as one of the best Democratic celebs. Finally, Kerry Washington will lead the Thursday night performances as an experienced actress who has actively participated in promoting Democrats in the past. Additionally, Illinois Governor, JB Pritzker, will host the event and allow John Legend to perform at the early event, adding to the always-star-studded event he participated in before.

It was reported that other prominent star singers, such as Taylor Swift and Beyoncé might also perform during these nights, although, that has yet to be confirmed. The Democratic National Convention, although a political event, involving strategies, political speeches, and politico-entertainment, also includes the performances of the stars that are similar in association in terms of their world values. In fact, the appearance of the prominent musicians is a part of the age-old tradition of engaging the famous while complaining that the Democratic Party has wrongly adopted popular culture to earn the votes. That is, it has always tapped into the spirit of the youth, who were often broke. Although they are not broke anymore, one can still reach across with the promise of winning hearts of the star population during elections, which the Democrats today have been actively doing in all senses. If the appearances or performances of the celebrities draw attention, the volume of articles and newscasts is immensely huge; while reaching 50,000 voters is impossible with one microphone, several stars have a grasp on the 50 million voters. Thus, despite complaints, turning to big stars is a smart political strategy to get ahead of the competition. The view should be seen as positive as urged by one of the 2020 DNC organizers: the more they reach, the closer they shall get as the Party should expand its base.

The opposing view would be that by reaching for as many as possible, the Democrats only become lost in the largest possible sea of stars who want the piece of the political pie. Although the argument would be solid and it would take an eternity to reach and support every candidate with such luxurious outreach, the point of the speakers and political stars is not to overshadow or eliminate; instead, it is to follow and participate in the lawsuit ratification of the most valuable of all representatives. A speaker program with an event complying with these agreements shall begin on the day agreed upon and pursuant to the description provided, last until the day of the event, inclusive.
