Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays Prep for New Season

The Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays are preparing for their second season in the Heritage Conference with all new excitement and strategic changes. After scoring 2 wins and losing 8 games while trying to get accustomed to the changes brought by a transition from WestPAC to the new competition, the team seems more hopeful. Players and coaches talked about their preparations and expectations for the new season during the recent Heritage Conference media day.

Senior Ethan McNulty called the previous season an “eye-opener” and expressed his confidence that any result would be better this time. Another senior, Logan Heinlein’s, who is going to be the quarterback, stressed that the team is better prepared physically. “All our guys are in the weight room. We hit it hard and I think our size and our strength will be better than what it was last year,” he stated. The Blue Jays’ defense looks determined as well, as all the preparations this time seem to focus on fixing the offense, which scored over 30 points in just half of the games last season.

With most players graduated or moved to other schools, the team lost its top three rushers last season. Nonetheless, the Blue Jays seem more inspired about rebranding offense and patching defense this season. Conemaugh Valley has adjusted its tactics to rival its competitors despite currently outnumbering most of them. The team moves to a key season, with the community watching. Hopefully, the Blue Jays will fly high this time.
