Cowboys and Raiders Face Off in Preseason Showdown

The Dallas Cowboys and Las Vegas Raiders meet Saturday in NFL preseason action at Allegiant Stadium. The game is set for a 10 p.m. ET kickoff on Saturday night, with NFL Network broadcasting the contest live.

The Cowboys are fresh off a 13-12 loss in Los Angeles to the Rams while Oakland dropped its preseason opener at home against Minnesota, also by one point -- falling 24-23.

Both sides showed positive signs in their first outings after the losses. The Cowboys will move on, and there was a lot to like about —among others— QB Trey Lance in his first road game of this magnitude. Lance went 16-for-41 pass attempts and a total of 188 yards. He had a QB rating just over 70 on the night and did not lead touchdowns, as Dallas scored four field goals but his progress coming along is still an important storyline for the Cowboys.

Aidan O'Connell made a case for himself at quarterback that he has what it takes to become the full-time starter on this Raiders team. Only 1 month until both teams play the end of their pre-season where they not only get to finesse up strategies and player evaluations but also show off some new guys, practice squad players getting another shot. This becomes even more important with players like Trey Lance proving themselves in the NFL.

As for Week 5… The Raiders are favored with a -6.5 spread, reflecting some faith they can give the Cowboys defense more trouble than in that previous game of theirs coming up this week. Prediction: Raiders 24, Cowboys 10Dallas won't exactly dominate up front and should struggle offensively without scoring well on drives.

Now, with both teams gearing up for what should be an exciting Saturday showdown, it will come down to the play of their quarterbacks and how they adjust that there may finally be a preseason win on one side. Both teams look to establish some sort of momentum as they head into the 2024 NFL season and this game will go a long way towards deciding roster decisions.
