A young child who was only a six-year-old named Joseph Hegarty has died after quad bike mishap. A Vibrant Life Cut Short

Joseph was the “loveable son” of Andrea and Michael Hegarty, as well is a loving brother to Katie who was remembered frequently for his winning personality along with an intense love for all sports. Mourning: It is the death which has touched Carey Faughs Hurling Club hardest as Joseph was one of their most committed supporters and that his personality went to core of what a club should represent. His father, Michael is a coach with the club and his uncle Patrick alongside other family members have long association with local sports. Joseph's Somali FC added: "Your presence will be missed when you attend our matches and cheer deafeningly for your team."

His primary school, St Patrick's & St Brigid's PS & NU spoke of him as a "much loved bundle of joy who brought sunshine to all our days". His outgoing charm and friendliness made him a popular figure, with many lives in the school community touched by his personality.

Community Help for Bereavement

SDLP Glens councillor Margaret Anne McKillop said the community was deeply saddened and everyone's thoughts were with the Hegarty family at this awful time. Ms Davis said the community was a close-knit one and they would rally around to support Sharnie-Lee Hegarty's family, as well as everyone else who had been affected by this tragedy.
