Disney Announces New Monsters, Inc. Themed Land

A new themed land has been announced for Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios, and its source of inspiration is the beloved Pixar film Monsters, Inc. Disney revealed the expansion at their D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. According to the announcement, the addition will invite guests to experience the whimsical world of Monstropolis to its fullest.

The new area’s main feature will be a first-of-its-kind suspended coaster, based on the thrilling door-hanging chase scenes from the film. According to Disney, this ride combines the thrilling accelerations of a coaster with the smooth swinging motion of a gondola. Moreover, the coasted represents Disney’s first use of such technology in conjunction with their signature storytelling. As shared by Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of disney experiences, they look forward to this opportunity to realize the realm of Monsters, Inc. factory and bring an unprecedented level of entertainment to the guests. Construction on the coast is planned to commence next year, and more details on the project will be revealed.
