Disneyland Paris to Launch New Lion King Attraction

The executive board of the Walt Disney Company announced an innovative project at its Disneyland Paris resort: a Lion King-themed attraction, which will take the visitors on an adventure to the African savanna, together with their favorite characters, Mufasa, Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa. Disney revealed the project at the annual D23 convention; the experience will consist of a log flume ride from Pride Rock, enriching the park’s dynamics and appealing to a wider audience expected to opt for such adventure.

Disney announced its investment, part of a ten-year, $60 billion expansion initiative, at a time of declining theme park revenues, as shown by the third quarter results. The six-year expansion, occurring at the same time as several other significant projects, such as the 2026 World of Frozen, aims to entertain and surprise the audiences. The project is part of Disney’s larger investment in its park and cruise operations and is their response to dwindling visitor numbers and length of stay.

The announcement coincides with a larger investment initiative by Disney, which announced a ten-year, $60 billion expansion at its parks and cruise operations. This investment is aimed at increasing the declining number of visitors and shortening average length of stay at the visitors’ destination, as is shown by the quarterly results. The launching of the attraction is part of their broader strategy and should expand the popularity of such endeavors among the global audience.
