Drew Lock's Injury Mars Giants' Preseason Game

Yesterday’s preseason opener against the Detroit Lions turned out to be a heartbreaking experience for New York Giants starting quarterback Drew Lock, who was forced to leave the field hurt. Indeed, Lock was injured late in the first quarter, and that somewhat ruined the game for the Giants.

To be completely fair, even before he got hurt, Lock’s first preseason appearance was far from perfect. He had completed a meager 4 of his ten pass attempts, racking up only 17 passing yards and an interception. The main reason behind the Giants’ decision to acquire Lock’s services this offseason was his mobility, and it was likely the only positive aspect of his short-lived performance. Lock managed to rush for 12 yards on two attempts.

Nevertheless, despite his mobility, Lock and the Giants’ offense had struggled to make anything happen, as New York recorded three first downs and two consecutive three-and-outs. Lock has been replaced in the line-up by Tommy DeVito, and sources say he will not be coming back to the game. As it is the case now, the New York Giants will attempt to make do with DeVito and practice squad signal-caller Brian Lewerke.
