Electric Picnic Excited for Kylie Minogue's Show

Electric Picnic Gears Up For Kylie Minogue's Headline Show

There is a buzz in Stradbally as Electric Picnic fans look forward to seeing Australian pop legend Kylie Minogue on stage. Her marquee-name status has not only attracted hordes to the festival, causing organizers to reschedule it so they could raise additional funds and meet Dehghan's fee; but also stands in stark contrast with her principal mode of touring fame: as a performer.

festival highlights AND FAN EXPECTATION

Electric Picnic has been basking in an electric atmosphere with great acts and perfect festival weather so far…but there are even more exciting things to come this weekend… Kylie fans from all over Ireland and further afield have flocked to the festival, bringing their passion and personal tales relating to Kylie's music.

Stradbally, Co. Laois resident Alison Doyle was one of the lucky few just down the road from festival site who shared her joy with The Irish Mail on Sunday Doyle said she enjoyed "Locomotion" as a dancer when she was younger and is looking forward to the evening's performance, with tongue firmly in cheek: “I am guarante (sic) of not being ‘too cool for Kylieʻ.”

Family fun and international appeal

And one, Nicola Raggett who had made her way from Cork with husband Ken and their five kids told me: 'We love how family-friendly it is. Having had a great time last year, the family was eager to make more memories this year and Kylie performing gave them another reason for doing so.

Echoing that sentiment, Reijane Cuddy from Brazil said she had never once felt unwelcome at an Irish festival and spoke highly of the friendly atmosphere and got to meet new people.

Kylie gets props from politicians

Even ex-Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, who is on holiday and will miss the show, couldn't resist gushing over Kylie Minogue. Varadkar spoke about Kylie to The Irish Independent and hailed her as a "living legend" in music, praising how she remains relevant still enjoying new chart hits five decades into her career.

Conclusion

Despite Kylie Minogue not performing for several hours yet, the anticipation is inescapable among Electric Picnic goers. Her ability to draw music fans from all walks of life and age groups alike through the otherworldly gates at Stradbally would suggest as much. When she hits the boards tonight, Kylie will provide not just a show but an evening to remember and all served up as reminder of why this Aussie remains such venerated firgure in the pantheon of pop stars.
