Elliot Page and Cast Reflect on 'The Umbrella Academy' Finale

As Netflix’s “The Umbrella Academy” series comes to an end with season four, stars such as Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, and Emmy Raver-Lampman reflect on the emotional journey of an adaptation of Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá’s graphic novels. Showrunner Steve Blackman revealed that the fourth season is the final one and was created to provide the loyal audience with a proper ending for the series. The idea was to answer the hanging questions and wrap up the often complex narrative arcs of the TV series.

During the conversation with Yahoo Canada, Elliot Page expressed the feeling of sentimentality with a sense of gratitude and regret not returning to the set and playing an important character.

The actors are known for their exhausting schedules and, after the final season, left the set utterly drained but reflective on what the recognition for roles means. According to Justin H. Min, the final 10 episodes demanded the most intense effort from the cast and crew members. They felt more connected to the characters and the show in general and knew that it was essential to create the best ending possible. Blackman shared that the last day was the one he made to coincide with the filming of the final scene. He believes it was important to enhance the feeling of “saying goodbye,” causing the maximum emotion after the show has completed. The actors must face the fact that they will have to move to the next stage of their careers and possibly take other roles to leave the series behind, so it becomes an essential life episode that has been a significant part of their lives.
