ESPN Releases Robert Griffin III and Samantha Ponder

As reported by The Athletic, ESPN has taken considerable changes in its lineup, releasing Robert Griffin III, a football analyst, and Samantha Ponder, the host. Griffin, who is a retired NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner, joined the network as a commentator in 2021 and has been seen as a significant member of “Monday Night Countdown.” Barrett also says that Griffin has two more years of contract with ESPN. Still, this offseason, Jason Kelce replaced him, and the main world service of ESPN stated that it was one of the company’s periodic resource reallocations.

Samantha Ponder, who has been working in front of ESPN’s cameras since 2011 and has hosted “Sunday NFL Countdown” in this company for six years, was dismissed from her post as well. Beck writes that Ponder’s departure is part of the end of her contract, which also includes reporting at “Saturday Night Football” and working on “College GameDay.” Both ESPN’s regular budget review and periodic changes in the football service contribute to the release of both Griffin and Ponder. According to Barrett, the “Get Up” host Mike Greenberg and “NFL Live” anchor Laura Rutledge are expected to follow Ponder on “Sunday NFL Countdown.”
