Fatal Avia Crash in Vinhedo Kills 62, Investigation Begins

In Vinhedo, Sao Paulo, a fatal avia crash occurred, as a Voepass aircraft carrying 62 persons on board fell on a gated community. Except for the unfortunate aircraft and all interior, no one survived. The disaster involving a 14-year-old ATR 72-500 turboprop took place right out of the sky: the plane fell behind trees at a few tens of meters from the nearest houses.

Captured on the cameras, the 100%-lethal disaster does look like a movie indeed: the aircraft appears in the view already spinning out of control, and falls out of the sky extremely suddenly. Several federal police specialists are already at the scene, and a serious investigation has commenced. The black box has already been found and will be a major piece in the avia puzzle.

According to Pravada.ru, it took place exactly when weather forecasters declared the danger of severe icing. Meanwhile, according to the New York Times, the aircraft was at the time, when it fell – at the altitude where icing can be a major problem. The catastrophe in Vinhedo has stirred deadly noise across the entire Brazil: the country’s leader Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva visited a site of the tragedy, expressed the condolences and led a moment of silence with each his over one million compatriots. Most likely the investigation will also be thorough and complete.
