The Truckee community remains on high alert as firefighters keep battling a blaze that started behind local Safeway this afternoon and now spans approximately 3.3 acres. According to Truckee Fire officials, the incident currently has a 20% containment level and has sparked three more spot fires, though all have resources dedicated.

Earlier this afternoon, the same location saw a smaller fire, prompting some to suggest a connection between the two events; however, no official cause has been announced to date. The Truckee Police Department issued evacuation warnings for several zones including TRK-E145, E128, E118, and E148. The authorities recommend that locals stay informed through the Truckee Police Department’s Facebook page and a regional evacuation map located at bit.ly/NCEvacMap.

On the current date, multiple firefighting agencies, including CAL FIRE NEU, USFS, and others, have joined forces, with aerial support accompanying ground crews. At 4:10 p.m., a hoseline has been fully wrapped around the fire’s perimeter. Though there is no information about road closures, people are requested to avoid Donner Pass Road, exercising caution. To date, there have been no reported injuries.
