Guardiola Confident in Team's Strength for Shield

During the past week, I have been watching the Manchester City pre-match press conference, which was held on Friday ahead of the Community Shield game against Liverpool. The manager Pep Guardiola was not hesitant while speaking about the Sunday game. Instead, he seemed rather confident and ready to compete.

He mentioned that Fernandinho is the only absentee within his squad. At the same time, the team has strengthened by the arrival of some key players, such as Ederson and Mahrez. There have been concerns regarding Aymeric Laporte’s fitness after a reported knock. However, the press report is not the participants in the pre-season. It is not a secret that Guardiola is going to use the match fitness of the players who spent the most minutes on the pitch this summer.

Being said, those who rejoined after the rest period are likely to feature shortly. For instance, I am sure that Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus will be a part of the manager’s game plan. Another important question is whether Claudio Bravo can retain his place after his brilliant performance this summer. Although the question remains open given the rejoining of so many key players, Pep confirmed he would be the one starting. The manager also mentioned Bravo would have a vital role in the Community Shield match since Ederson had been on vacation for the first time during the past two years. These insights can be helpful while choosing options for the Fantasy Football Community League.
