Heated Debate on Fox News Over Walz's Military Service

Fox News’ “The Five” witnessed a heated exchange when Democratic commentator Jessica Tarlov attacked her fellow hosts for parroting Trump campaign hits against Minnesota’s Governor Tim Walz military service. The brouhaha was sparked by the news of Walz’s pick as VP Harris’ running mate. Namely, Trump’s running mate, Senator J.D. Vance accused Walz of deserting his colleagues by retiring barely weeks before a deployment to Iraq. The idea was rendered false given that Walz retired to vie for a congressional seat, which had nothing to do with a select inter unit deployment.

Tarlov hit back supporting Walz’s 24-years honorable service and comparing it to Trump’s deferments draft during the Vietnam war. Interestingly, the claim is characterized by its concurrence in the timing when Trump blamed bone spurs for the deferment. The controversy further heated as Watters challenges Tarlov, indicating that her claims are baseless given that Vance served in Iraq. The debate underscored the polarizing views on the credibility of military service and politicking in the current political climate, showing its sensitivity in such discussions.
