Ian Wheeler Scores Twice in NFL Preseason Game

Houston native Ian Wheeler, a former Howard University star, made a huge impact in his NFL debut as he scored two touchdowns to lead the Chicago Bears to a 33-6 demolition of the Buffalo Bills in the preseason. The trophies came in the fourth quarter as Wheeler showed his ability with five carries for 43 yards.

He scored his first touchdown at the end of an impressive run in the middle, then a few minutes later picked up the ball on the left and reached the end zone with an elongated touch. Wheeler’s debut and achievements in college were more than impressive. Only a week after his first performance at the top level, on August 17, when the Bears host the cincinnati bengals, it will be interesting to see which of the two ways he will be as the main introduction in the NFL.

Academically, Wheeler is also in a similar position and has a 3.57 GPA for his senior year at Howard University. Last October, he became the first NFL player to receive a regular acceptance from Howard University for her med school. He also made the MEAC Commissioner’s All-Academic Team.
