Japan Ends Mega-Quake Advisory, Urges Continued Caution

The Japan Meteorological Agency has recently ended an advisory it issued on the risk of a mega-quake on Japan’s Pacific coast regions. The advisory was given after an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 occurred near Miyazaki Prefecture. This information was circulated on April 20, 2016, and the advisory was to end at around 5 p.m. on Thursday. The event caused tension since the Nankia Trough is known for earthquakes and was dangerously close to the earthquake.

Despite the advisory coming to an end, authorities are requesting for caution and patience. It is true that Japan is still under high risks of facing a major seismic activity in the Nankai Trough. The affected prefectures should keep the information in mind and be more vigilant. The advisory is no getting discontinued because the risks have been diminished. However, the local residents and governments in the populous Japan should enhance their disaster management. They should still be cautious and continue with the disaster resilience strategies.
