Jasmine Camacho-Quinn Wins Bronze in 100m Hurdles

The celebrated athlete from Puerto Rico, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, has claimed another Olympic award, winning the bronze in the women’s 100-meter hurdles at the 2024 Saint-Denis, France Summer Olympics. Her achievement took place on Wednesday, May 10, and Camacho-Quinn successfully competed, reaching a time of 12.36 seconds, just short of Masai Russell, the American to win the gold and French Cyrena Samba-Mayela with a silver. As her second consecutive podium of the Olympics, the athlete became a reliable rival, after her golden medal at the Tokyo games. Additionally, Quinn was a flag bearer of Puerto Rico in the opening ceremonies, serving as the central sports face of the country.

The award of Camacho-Quinn, considering the unfortunate previous appearance of the athlete in Rio 2016, is highly deserved. Although it also had been a significant event in her career, allowing her to see the levels of the talent competition, she had not acquired a medal there. The preferences for her improved performance and success multiplied the victory’s sweety as one of the Lowcountry games participants. With Emma Navarro, the region’s tennis player, and the shot putter Raven Saunders, the country can be proud of her accomplishments.
