John Aprea, Celebrated Actor, Passes Away at 83

The last role of John Aprea, the actor known to any person that watched ‘The Godfather Part II’ and ‘Full House,’ was in the grave drama that became a real part of his life. The actor died at the age of 83 years from natural causes at his home in Los Angeles, California. His manager Will Levine reports that Aprea died peacefully, surrounded by family, and loved ones. The message on the death of the actor shocked thousands of his fans and other spectators who watched movies and TV series, where he acted as a notorious mobster and noble father of twin boys performed by John Stamos.

John Aprea was born in an Italian immigrant family in Englewood, New Jersey, on March 4, in 1941. The beginning was far from one of the greatest popular actors John Aprea began with a small role, performing an orderly at San Francisco Memorial Hospital in the 1960 Steve McQueen thriller “Bullitt’. Success, if not to consider the role in the series “Barney Miller,” he achieved only after the film by Francis Ford Coppola “The Godfather Part II.” Young Salvatore “Sal” Tessio, a puppeteer and wind-up merchant, glibly charming his patron and godfather, evoked only four words in John Apreya, Hail Mary Fullofgrace…unholybitch! Hoo hah! Hanna 356! Hanna 356!… Hanna 356!…was (Gordon, 2019). Aprea contacted Tessio himself to find out about his character, to play Salvatore “Sal” Tessio as believable as possible.

Not only the fatal role in “Godfather” brought irreplaceable loss to the cinema of the United States, John Aprea performed the role of Nick Katsopolis, father of the main character played by John Stamos. Eventually, the producers of the series “Full House” invited the actor to perform in the sequel “Fuller House,” which is an example of the few films that bring joy to the audience.

Unfortunately, an actor who starred in more than 30 movies and 60 TV shows or television sitcoms, including “The Sopranos” and “Another World,” died at his creative peak.

The death of John Aprea ended the era of great and worthy actors who wrote and decorated famous films and television shows with their work. The prime of life is most probably the saddest point in time for all worthy actors…but anyway, his works will be watched and re-watched by the new generations. May the show go on!
