At a recent Disney Legends ceremony, which occurred during the D23 Expo at Anaheim, the celebrated film composer John Williams was awarded the status for his unmatched impact on the art of cinema. According to news of the event, which took place in the Honda Centre attended by a 12,000-strong crowd, Williams’ long-time friend, and collaborator Harrison Ford provided a touching induction speech. While the speech was evidently filled with shared memories and humorous anecdotes, Ford chose to highlight the most important aspect of Williams’ work and the music that is now “inextricably linked to some of the most iconic scenes in films and television” other than its contribution to the latter. Ford was awarded the same status as Williams by the Disney chairman, Bob Iger, and in his speech said that “John has written the soundtrack of our lives”. The significance of Williams’ work was further depicted in a tribute by the Pacific Symphony, who presented a special medley of his work and an accompanying montage of scenes, showing the unparalleled role he had in shaping the world’s cinematic history.
