Kamala Harris Leads Trump in Tight Presidential Race

The 2024 race for the presidency is shaping up to be a highly competitive one, as per recent polls. Kamala Harris is leading Donald Trump by a mere three points in the most recent polls, suggesting a potential photo finish in November, though still within the margin of error. Since President Biden’s surprise withdrawal from the race, things have shaped up very differently then one would expect. In the beginning, the majority of voters believed that Trump was all but certain to win. Now, Harris has rejuvenated the Democratic campaign and has surged to the top of the polls.

Kamala Harris is dominating the recent polls on 51-48. Key demographic groups have strongly supported her campaign, including Black voters, white college-educated women, and independent women. The Democrats are presently dominating the mid-west, with Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania all being toss-ups at the moment. Meanwhile, Trump’s Midwestern strategy has been a failure so far, aiming only at the Sun Belt states, though he has started to gain ground in Pennsylvania and Georgia. The Democratic Convention is coming up, and it is important that the Harris/Walz ticket is defined, especially as 71% of voters do not know the Vice presidential nominee pick Tim Walz. As of now, voters are highly divided on some pressing issues such as the economy and immigration.
