Katie Moon Adds Silver to Her Olympic Achievements

Katie Moon of Team USA has added a silver medal to her tally after competing in the Women’s Pole Vault event at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Olympian previously won gold at the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games. Going into her final successful attempt, the athlete jumped 15 feet, 11 inches. This performance made her one of the top contenders in pole vaulting for women.

The gold at the event was taken by Australia’s Nina Kennedy, with a leap of 16 feet, ¾ inches, while the third position went to Canada, won by Alysha Newman, who jumped 15 feet. The achievement was a continuation of the consistent performance throughout the event, as Katie Moon was one of two athletes who cleared their first four vaults without any misses. She also became the second USA athlete to win multiple Olympic medals in women’s pole vault.

The victory was noteworthy, as it extended the medal hauls not only for the athlete but also for the Team USA lineup in the sport. The result made the team the best in history for the women’s pole vault in the Olympic sports.
