Liverpool's Strategic Moves and Branthwaite's Role

In the throes of football mania, Liverpool FC is a common topic of discussion, especially in the run-up to the closing of the transfer window. On both the team and the club levels, Liverpool has been quite active recently, securing players and taking a closer look at several hopefuls.

Despite the departure of Georginio Wijnaldum, there is good news: Alisson Becker is staying. Short of a crisis, Liverpool’s current No. 1 has never been interested in a move away. “Ever since I came here, I’ve done my best to do something different, something special with this club,” said Alisson. The Brazilian goalkeeper added that he intends to stay at Liverpool even after his current contract expires, which is good, because he has been — and, seemingly, will remain — essential to the team in this new season.

Liverpool has not been idly sitting on their hands, either. The ongoing transfer of Bajcetic has revealed that both Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo have been interested in picking up the young midfielder, Stefan Bajcetic. Since January, Lewis Koumas has been on loan at Stoke City — and his first appearance this season during a 5-0 win against Doncaster Rovers was close to being legendary, as he nearly scored a hat-trick. All in all, it looks like Liverpool’s policy related to loans has been working rather well.

Of course, Liverpool have been quite busy on the transfer market. The department is currently following the news about Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta, probably aiming at landing a successful blow in Juventus’ interest in the midfielder.

At the same time, there are rumours that Liverpool may be making inroads to reinforce their attack. Ebe Eze from Crystal Palace in this case would make sense, since one of Liverpool’s primary interests at the moment has been to grow even stronger in the midfield. The team’s next game, having seen the competitors’ performances in-game, will require nothing short of a victory against Brentford to go up the standing. At least, this new season shows that Liverpool’s approach and the current team’s performance, seasoned with the potential arrivals, will ensure the club a decent standing both internationally and on the domestic level. Thus, it is fair to say that Liverpool are not quite the favorite but an extremely strong team on both scales that is nothing short of dominating the world of European football this season.
