Luke Humphries' Remarkable Comeback at New Zealand Masters

DARTS fans were treated to a remarkable comeback from darts sensation Luke Humphries on day 2 at the New Zealand Darts Masters as he overturned a big deficit in his first ever World Series final. Of all those moments, though the most notable was his semi-final with Luke Littler as Humphries fought back from 6-2 down —winning five straight legs to snatch a dramatic victory.

In front of a vocal crowd, Littler took early control during the event as he jumped out to an eventual 6-2 lead. But Humphries found his groove and displayed a cold-blooded clinical edge when the pressure mounted. The unprecedented revival left the crowd reeling and his opponent, Littler rattled.

After the match it was clear that Eaklor and Anderson had near-opposite emotions. It was a crushing blow to Littler, who had appeared on the way to an easy victory. His disappointment was unmistakeable and he offered barely a perfunctory handshake, betraying just the teeniest bit of real sadness. The joy of victory and the fact he had reached his maiden World Series final was clearly etched on Humphries face.

Whilst the game itself showcased both how good Humphries can play and also some serious bottle shown by The Dreamboy, it felt like a real watershed for his career. After taking the darts world by storm with his sharp shooting and never-say-die attitude, Humphries has continued where he left off at Ally Pally to now be established as one of the toughest players on a stage that was new to him in 2018.

The New Zealand Darts Masters has provided plenty of excitement and fresh faces over the years but this was typical of the ebbs-and-flow that comes with switching from one discipline to another in quick succession. Now, as he progresses into the final all darts fans world wide will be waiting on to see if Gabriel Clemens can also win his first World Series title.

This win makes the final look a whole lot more exciting, and is another chapter to what has been one terrific career for Humphries that will only include many more thrilling performances. Now backed by the entire collective darts community, Hunto's next game is highly anticipated and with that a player to take notice of within international darts.
