Maddux Madsen Named Boise State's Starting QB

In a surprising turn of events for Malachi Nelson, the starting quarterback, and having lost the starting position, the 2024 College Football season is less than two weeks away. It proves that in sports, adaptability traits often result in an unpredictable outcome whereby the accolades of those in the past are forced to cede to the present. Malachi Nelson, a boogie five-star prospect and the former fifth-ranked quarterback in 2023, was a transfer student at Boise State. This was surprising as people learn that the highly regarded USC player had left the institution to embark on a career restart for horses. The best he could do, however, was be named the second starting quarterback in the Broncos’ season opener, turned away from Georgia Southern. This occurrence is a lesson that it is not how that starts but rather how it ends.

Maddux Madsen has been the Broncos for a relatively less period of about two seasons unlike Nelson, yet he was named Boise State’s starting quarterback. The two are quarterbacks with greater athleticism but different experiences. Madsen is a three-star sit and wait recruit who understands the playbook well. The new head coach for the Boogie, Spencer Danielson, pointed out that even though Madsen mastered the offense already, Nelson would be better once he reaches that far with the growth potential of the two.

This reflects the reality on many cases in sports where playing is determined by knowing the playbook and chemistry outdo a 14-year job or a preseason 14-month. It is also unpredictable to determine college athletes’ readiness or consideration for the decisions of medical staff. Nelson, who now feels the need to know horses, was the one who quarterbacked Madsen to determine his future in the same program. It remains to be seen how Nelson will respond. The cliche about how the playing is not how it starts or how it ends will either be confirmed or refuted by him.
