MLS Clubs Dominate Liga MX in Leagues Cup Semi-finals

In this year’s Leagues Cup, Major League Soccer teams have exceptionally outsmarted Liga MX clubs. It is worth noting that the dominance that has been displayed by four MLS clubs in the semi-final of the leagues cup has drawn a significant shift of power from Mexican clubs over the years.

As reported by Sanchez, the previous year in the leagues cup, only one MLS team had reached to the semifinal but this year all the four MLS teams have occupied the places in the semi-final. Previously, due to the dominance of the Liga MX clubs, MLS were viewed to be the junior partners and expansionists of the tournaments. However, the unprecedented winning of the games with strong matches between MLS and Liga MX has proven that MLS clubs are well equipped to win and no longer the participants of the competition.

In the quarterfinals of the leagues cup, Colorado Rapids eliminated Club América one of the strongest and respectful teams in Liga MX, which has been a remarkable and outstanding achievement. Additionally, in the quarter finals, Cruz Azul defeated L.A Galaxy and Orlando City defeated FC Juarez. The achievement of the MLS clubs can be attributed to the strong investments that have been undertaken by the MLS clubs in the transcendent players, infrastructural investments, and strongly possessed desire to win.

André Jardine, who was the Colorado Rapids’ opponent and coach for Club América, said that winning was hard away from home and criticized the supporting fans for not providing good treatment on the players. However, it is a clear indication that the winning of the game was a credit to the Colorado Rivets which was a clear win and not a default win.
