The Phoenix Mercury has announced their latest roster addition with the signing of Monique Billings on a seven-day contract. This addition comes as the Mercury need to build up their roster. Monique Billings is a 6-foot-4 forward who joins the Mercury after a season with the Dallas Wings.

The forward played in 24 games for the Wings, starting on 12 occasions. During her time with the Wings, she recorded 8.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. She holds a 47.5 field goal percentage and recorded five double-doubles. She also played a standout game in the last outing versus the Mercury, when Billings earned a double-double on 18 points and 8 rebounds, in addition to 4 blocked shots.

Monique Billings spent the first five years of her career with the Dallas Wings in the Women’s National Basketball Association. The Los Angeles native is playing on a seven-day contract with the Mercury. Monique Billings was drafted immediately out of her college play with the 20th selection in her round of the WNBA draft. In her 200 career games, including the 56 games with the Wings as a starter, Billings recorded 6.3 points and 5.9 rebounds. She is more known for her physical presence on the court and in the locker room, holding a 13.3 percent career shooting percentage from the three-point range. The player is coming at the time the Mercury need her additional strength and experience to cope with their current struggles.
