Netflix Pauses Zack Snyder's Sequels Amid Career Shifts

It was recently reported that Netflix has ‘paused’ all developments on Zack Snyder’s ‘Army of the Dead’ sequels and associated anime series. The original movie was a great hit: it was watched by 75 million households in the first 28 days, and it is the ninth most-watched original Netflix movie. However, the planned sequel, ‘Planet of the Dead,’ will not be produced. A themed experience will be held in Six Flags theme parks this Halloween: according to Snyder’s producer, this is an interactive exhibit in which fans can experience the movie.

The decision was made amid the challenging times for Snyder. Four parts of the ‘Rebel Moon’ movie were planned initially, as reported by the director in his interview for Vanity Fair. However, an insider specified in another article for CinemaBlend that ‘Netflix was unhappy with the first part’ and the development of the next parts was ‘paused.’ Snyder shared with CinemaBlend his desire to shoot smaller projects without huge VFX after ‘Rebel Moon’. This slight change in his career path is likely to attract the attention of the audience since it is interesting to know in what directions Snyder’s films can move if he gives up large-scale action packed with visual effects in all possible variations.
