After defeating most of his adversaries in 100m, it appeared that his only real competitor could be Lyles himself. But this race was different. Tebogo Letsile from Botswana won the gold medal and also became the first African man who managed to achieve this goal. What is more, his result was just outstanding – 19.46. It is not surprising that the world expected Lyles to win this race but not Vice-versa.

It was revealed after the race that Noah Lyles had hidden the fact that he was sick. But he was not just ill; he had COVID-19. Despite all the dangers, Lyles decided to participate in the Olympics. The thing is, if I knew it, I would start shaking psychologically and, well at least, let you guys know”. Thus, Lyles showed his determination to win, competing with numerous rivals when they are the best health. He proves his loyalty to the country, pursuing excellence as a Christian. It adds many complexities to his thrilling Olympics adventure.
