Paul Heckingbottom Leads Preston North End

It has been announced last week of some big changes for the Preston North End in the English Championship. In the managerial team reshuffle, during the middle of the season, Paul Heckingbottom was appointed as the Head Coach of the club and Stuart McCall, former assistant coach of Blackpool, joined him at the Deepdale.

To provide well-needed experience for a new team, a new assistant coach of the Preston North End is Stuart McCall, a former assistant coach of Blackpool due to experience at that position and a former manager of the Bradford City and Scotland national team. Before joining the Lily Whites in January 2022, they have been working together as a coach on the Sheffield United. This duo has been working together for a while and now feel they can make the impact on the team in the league they both have the experience. Paul expressed his excitement about the new appointment and underlined, “It’s a club I know well for a lot of reasons and a league I know well, so it was a pretty easy decision”. He also put his motto for the following season to take Preston North End to a Premier League. The Director of Preston North End, Peter Ridsdale, stated, “We quickly identified that we wanted Paul to be the man to take us forward and moved quickly over the weekend” and showed the excitement about the new team putting forward “new energy and some excitement for the fans to watch and improved results”.

Saying that, I believe, we can finally see the strong team in Championship which will provide stability and a good plan regarding the future. Paul Heckingbottom has already proved his skills winning promotion for Sheffield United side and now, together with Stuart McCall, they will provide the experience and know-how needed for a decent season. However, we should not underestimate the opponents and how competitive the league can become. Only the future will tell.
