Philadelphia Union Prepares for Leagues Cup Match

Philadelphia Union are gearing up to play their final Leagues Cup match as they take on Colorado Rapids in the third-place match. The match will be played on Sunday, August 25th at 4:30 PM ET. This highly anticipated match will be shown on MLS Season on Apple TV and can also be listened to on 97.5 Fanatic through their app and website.

All of Union parking lots will open at 11:30 AM, fans are encouraged to pre-purchase passes online as spots are limited. The Union Yards will also open up at 1 PM, the pregame party is located right across from the Sons of Ben Tailgate lots. At this location there will food and beverages to enjoy, they also have a 50 foot long bar and rustic dining hall. Added onto the big screens surrounding the area, there will be communal seating, as well as the GIANT Tailgate, offering lounge seating, tailgate games, and fire pits to gather around before the match. A reminder that this match is played under the Leagues Cup regulations around a smoke free event. Smoking will not be allowed at or outside of Subaru Park.

During this time, remember that the Subaru Plaza is open starting at 2:30 PM ET to allow fans to look at the latest Union gear as they are now showcasing the new XV kits. At 3 PM ET, gates to the stadium are opened allowing ample time for fans to arrive and get settled.

In keeping with the growing effort toward environmental sustainability, Subaru Park has announced the status as the first zero landfill soccer stadium in Major League Soccer. A joint project between Subaru and the Philadelphia Union, the initiative has brought about a reduction, reuse, and recycling of over 90% of the waste generated at the facility; the remaining waste has been converted to energy. In this way, the efforts contribute to the local community and support environmental responsibility through setting an example to be followed by sports venues throughout the country.

The concessions at Subaru Park have been updated to include even more Grab & Go locations ensuring that fans have access to food more quickly. The stadium’s vendor is introducing a series of new concessions. Fans attending the event will have a chance to enjoy Philly Cheesesteak roll, burrito box, and walking nachos, among other options.

The commitment to improving the fan experience both inside and outside of the stadium reinforces the broader trend in sports management. By incorporating environmental support and fan engagement, the initiatives seek to create an atmosphere of sports event management that is indicative of the present day. Fans are encouraged to come early and enjoy the variety of offerings designed to make the Leagues Cup third-place match a memorable event in this season’s soccer calendar.
