Phillies Struggle as Marlins Lead in Early Game Showdown

The early showdown was so gripping that the Miami Marlins were able to score a lead over the philadelphia phillies, and as of the end of the second inning, the score is 3-1. The highlight of the game occurred earlier into the game as Miami Marlins’ Jonah Bride blasted a three-run homer off Phillies’ Tyler Phillips – the home run was the fifth of the season for Bride. It was a turn point in the game that accentuated Phillips’ day at the mound, hosting the first game of his career. However, the pitcher was able to recover, striking out Emmanuel Rivera immediately after the home run. Regardless, the score stands with the Marlins leading in the second inning of the game.

At the same time, the Marlins’ pitcher Edward Cabrera was able to keep the Phillies in check by striking out Kyle Schwarber. In the top of the second inning, the Phillies were able to reduce the gap by one run as Bryson Stott scored from a double play to second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. Apparently, the Phillies have four innings to close the gap.
