Quilici Fire Grows to 400 Acres, Forces Emergency Actions

Currently, the Quilici Fire, a wildfire near the California-Nevada state line, forces emergency actions, as it grew to approximately 400 acres. As NV Energy reports, the fire was initiated by a vehicle fire that spread to the nearby wildland. In order to efficiently suppress conflagration, power has been switched off in the regions of Truckee and North Lake Tahoe to about 29,000 customers. Since the emergency situation grew near Verdi, Nevada, mandatory evacuations were imposed in the Quilici Ranch Road area. To address the traffic issue and ensure public safety, the eastbound Interstate 80 was shut near Gold Ranch, and diversions were assigned at state Route 267 in Truckee. It shall be closed through Monday morning.

According to KTVN, some containment was achieved the following Sunday evening. The evacuation center was established at the Northwest Reno Library to provide feasible solutions and help the evacuated. The community remains attentive to the situation. So far security measures and efforts were provided to ensure efficient wildfire control and protect the public.
