Sammie Szmodics Secures Premier League Debut with Ipswich

£9 million deal sees Szmodics at Ipswich

Ipswich Town today announced that they have secured the services of Sammie Szmodics from Blackburn Rovers in a £9 million initial fee, plus add-ons.

The 28-year-old midfielder has penned a four-year deal at the club, keeping him at the club until 2028, and he could make his Premier League debut this weekend against Liverpool.

Szmodics said: “ Premier League play was a big draw for me, and after speaking to former team-mates, it became clear that this was the right choice,”. His arrival at Portman Road comes as a direct response to his form for Blackburn last season, where he netted 33 goals in all competitions, and this of course was the most profitable season in his playing career.

Kieran McKenna Ipswich boss hailed Szmodics’ versatility and ability to score goals, and he expressed the hope that he will be of major boost to his attack. This summer has already been a very intense one for Ipswich, as they have brought several players in, and they clearly intend to give a very strong account of themselves in the elite division.
