Sarah Hildebrandt Wins Gold, US Dominates Women's Wrestling

On Wednesday, Olympic wrestler and former King University wrestler Sarah Hildebrandt brought her first gold medal in Women’s Freestyle 50kg/110lbs class to the United States women’s wrestling team. Hildebrandt previously won bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She fought in the finals with Yusneylis Guzman Lopez from Cuba, as a competitor from India in the first round was disqualified because she did not reach the weight.

Hildebrandt’s victory was celebrated at King University, where her friends, alumni, staff, and community members gathered to watch her performance. The head coach of the women’s wrestling program at King University, Jason Moorman, said that Hildebrandt has always been unstoppable and that her steadfast commitment as both a student and an athlete has never wavered. Moorman added that along with being one of the best athletes in the world, Sarah is a wonderful ambassador for King University and wrestling as a whole. However, the most important thing for now is that Hildebrandt and Amit Elor, who was first in her class, showed that the US is absolutely dominating the world in women’s wrestling.
