Seattle Chef Tamara Murphy Dies at 63 After Stroke

It is a sad day in the culinary industry. It is with deep sorrows that we mourn a James Beard Award winner and celebrated Seattle chef, Tamara Murphy, who has lost the battle in the earthly life.

The James Beard winner died at the age of 63 years in Boise, Idaho, surrounded by loved ones. The death of the crown winner of the most coveted prize by a chef followed a massive stroke that Tamara suffered.

She was a significant figure in the culinary scene in Seattle where she ran the Terra Plata Restaurant. The energetic and vibrant Murphy was not only an impressive chef but also an ardent activist. She championed for LGBTQ+ rights, and sustainable agriculture. She worked with local farms to source fresh organic ingredients for her food.

Murphy was a regular donor together with her partner, Linda Di Lello Morton. It was indeed a significant loss to the two professions.
