Following the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, the Secret Service has placed several agents on leave and is reviewing its protocols.

Secret Service Agents on Leave After Trump Assassination Attempt

Since the assassination attempt of the former President of the United States, Donald Trump, the U.S. Secret Service placed various agents on administrative leave. The event took place on Tuesday, July 13, at Rally held just north of Pittsburgh in Butler, Pennsylvania. Following the embarrassing incident, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned from office and so no longer works in the agency. All these issues are currently being heavily reviewed, and the review factors are called the operational protocols of the Secret Service.

At the rally held in Connoquenessing Township, the former President received only a minor injury while two other people remain severely injured and are still being hospitalized. Besides, one person died due to the shooting, Corey Comperatore. Consequently, the head of the Secret Service’s Pittsburgh field office and some other agents are put on leave from the office duties. Thus, a full review would be conducted to realize how the shooting was possible and how could 20-year-old Thomas Crooks, a resident of Slatington, Pennsylvania, get to a finally unsecured position and fire while the President was speaking.

According to Anthony Guglielmi, the Secret Service’s chief of communications, the mission assurance review was currently conducted within the agency. In case if the investigations show that there was a violation of Secret Service policy, the Office of Professional Responsibility would take care of the situation. So far, it is calling for the disciplinary action, and still, it is unknown how many agents are put on leave during the operational review. The Chief of Communications also emphasized that ‘the long-standing policies that govern employee conduct apply to employees hired more than 20 years ago or 20 days ago.’

Up until now, various lawmakers are calling for more than a dozen personnel changes after the shooting. Besides, as a part of the review, local law enforcement was angered by the Secret Services’ inability to host a rally properly. Body camera footage revealed the vocal complaints about the locations of bodies as it was not a secure place exactly where the alleged shooting took place. It was not days before the event, neither early morning or something of that type. Still, no other measures took place. The investigative disappointed with the lack of coordination of the Secret Service of local police.

The assassination could create massive chances in Secret Services’ power in developing and implementing various protective measures towards the former US Presidents. How issues could be properly constituted and what are the final outcomes – the outcome of the review would be soon enough. In case, plans are better adjusted or even have to be fully reviewed. Issues will focus on the better operational coordination with the local security forces if so.

The Secret Service agency is undergoing massive air following the attack on the President of the United States. Agents and other active workers are put on leave, and reviews are conducted within the issue. Therefore, possible course of action would be better realized which could influence the future security measures regarding all government highly-ranked officials. Individuals within the country and the US that believe that proper actions would be realized in terms of significant reforms with the agencies responsible for various critical and protective measures.
