Thousands in Reno and Verdi Without Power Amid Wildfire

Entire legacy zip codes in Reno are facing power outages currently with NV Energy reporting that a significant portion of the area is affected.

Late Sunday night saw at least 2,000 people in the Reno area and at least 6,000 more in neighbouring Verdi who were reported to be without electricity.

The power company has reported that the outages in Verdi are engineered as a safety measure and that power lines are being shut out statically due to a wildfire.

However, as of late Sunday, the company has not given a timeline as to when these populations in Reno and Verdi will have their power restored.

This has left tens of thousands of families anxious as they try to deal with the reality of living without power in potential wildfire zones.

For their part, NV Energy and emergency services are urging the public to stay aware through the official updates and to be cautious during this period.
