Trump's Rhetoric and the Political Divide in the US
Wagner's article highlights Trump's rhetoric about fighting lies and the political divide in the US.
Alex Wagner, a journalist, points out a feature of the speeches of the 45 th president of the United States. As is known, in recent months, the politician has increased the number of his appeals to the representatives of the Democratic Party, saying that they may be prone to deception. Wagner 2019 says that this is an unusual feature of Donald Trump’s rhetoric: the fight against a lie has become a recurring theme in his speeches. According to Wagner 2019, the suspicion of Democrats is not the last thing that will be heard, especially if Trump is defeated in the upcoming elections. Perhaps now, saying this, the politician is confident in his defeat and wants to justify his actions; or, perhaps, it will be another show from a populist in order to promote his point of view among the population. Either way, Wagner’s article draws attention to the fact of the existence of such a situation in american politics. It also shows the US’s political divide experienced by the country. Separate states express dissatisfaction with the situation since this can adversely affect the level of social trust in the fairness of the work of authorities, in the correctness of political institutions.
