U.S., Egypt, and Qatar Present New Gaza Cease-Fire Plan

In what appears to be a major step towards putting an end to the hostilities in the Gaza Strip, the United States, along with Egypt and Qatar, presented the region’s new cease-fire proposal. The initiative that was described as “bridging” has been shared with both Hamas and Israel, suggesting a long-anticipated breakthrough in the 10-month confrontation that has left the region devastated. Despite being signed-off jointly by the respective governments, Friday’s statement did not give away the details regarding “the agreement’s points” but implied that it included “a cease-fire and a deal about hostages”.

Apparently, these new developments indicate that the U.S. along with Egypt and Qatar has been putting a relentless effort into stabilising the situation, now hopeful that this will soon be completed by the end of next week. Surrounded by the international community’s increased attention, the proposal, if successful, could bring a new hopeful content to the future of Israeli-Palestinian relations.
