UK Black Weather Alert: Heatwave to Hit by Thursday

United Kingdom might encounter a sudden meteorological shift as August ends. While the Autumn months are just around the corner, regions of the UK are prone to meet a sudden Iberian heatwave. These “black” weather events, typically found from heat maps, have been kicking off in Spain, with an upcoming East of England, Southeast England, East Midlands, and Yorkshire and Humber Iberian heatwave on Thursday, August 29. The country’s new wave of weather will be quite hot, with as high as 30°C to be reached in the East of England, and the south will almost immediately follow either. The messy Bank Holiday weekend the UK had, with some overnight rain and distant drizzly days, is suspected to clear on its last day. The weather’s shift has been forecasted by James Madden – a well-known member of Exacta Weather – and the Met Office. According to Madden, the UK will already experience high pressure this coming Sunday. The Met Office supports this claim, with a well-defined northwest-southeast split in the weather, bringing settled weather to the east and south for the first days. In the oncoming weeks, the UK is likely to follow in these footsteps. Recent history is characteristic of wind turmoil, with Storm Lilian being the most recent one. This storm brought some disruptions and copious gusty winds. The weather conditions were so bad that some events were canceled, such as some parts of the Leeds Festival as high winds brought safety risks for the festival attendees and stage workers. There have been more and more events such as these, with weather showing frequent and unexpected changes. These changes present a challenge in terms of management of weather events, daily vigour, and public safety and emergency concerns.
