Ukraine Launches Major Offensive Into Russian Territory

Ukrainian forces have launched a major offensive incursion into Russia, penetrating about 1,000 square kilometers of Russian land, country’s top military officials revealed. Politico list that Ukraine’s recent invasion “has forced Russia to respond by pulling troops back from its southern regions of Zaporizhzha and Kherson that had advanced toward Ukraine and moving them to check the unexpected incursion into Russian territory.” Not only does this provide Ukraine with a major tactical advantage, but, according to Dmytro Lykhoviy, spokesperson to the Ukrainian army, this is “one of our best psychological operations.”

This comes in light of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s indication that the reason for the invasion is to stop Russia from making cross-border strikes at Ukraine. This incursion, although an immense risk on its own, is seen as a testament to Ukraine’s willingness to change the nature of the conflict.
