Wrestling World Mourns the Loss of Legendary Sid Eudy

The wrestling community is currently mourning the loss of Sid Eudy, who was formerly known as “Sycho Sid” in WWF/WWE and “Sid Justice” during his brief tenure with World Championship Wrestling. The passing of the wrestling icon, 63, was confirmed on social media by his son, Gunnar Eudy, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Sid Eudy’s career was undoubtedly one that most wrestling fanatics would want to follow. During the 80s, he started forming rivalries and winning matches that resurrected his career and led him to become the talk of the town. The two rival wrestling companies of that time, WCW and WWE, grew fond of the wrestler who headlined most of the annual events. The seasoned wrestler chained multiple world title wins, some of which were held in the presence of celebrities and supported by thousands of fans.

Notably, among the legendary wrestlers Sid stood toe-to-toe within the ring include Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker, and Shawn Michaels. A later post by his son described him as a powerful, kind, and loving man, making him not only a darling in the wrestling field but well beyond the sporting arena. Social media is currently awash with messages of condolence from former workmates, fans, and sports journalists appreciating the great role he played in impacting their lives either as teammates or fans.

It is, however, important to acknowledge that Sid’s health issues were not open to the public. Although there had been significant concerns about the wrestler’s health, his close family and such friends as former workmates and managers were the only group that understood the extent of his health problem.

As such former athletes go unseen and the health battles remain unknown to the majority of wrestling fans, the best way to pay tribute may be working to build the health provisions within wrestling to ensure that the remaining former athletes receive the kind of support they need. After a long career, Eudy left behind a fantastic legacy that will be much celebrated and remembered in the WWE wrestling world.
